Farm Credit East was pleased to sponsor the Farmer Veteran Coalition's Fellowship Fund webinar February 13, 2019. This Fund provides small grants ranging from $1,000-$5,000 to assist beginning veteran farmers. This webinar answered questions regarding the application process and provide an overview of business planning, which is a required part of the application.
Farm Credit East and CoBank have donated $10,000 to support outreach efforts of the newly formed New York chapter of the Farmer Veteran Coalition. The Farmer Veteran Coalition boasts about 8,000 members nationwide, and by the end of the year will have nine state chapters, including its newest in New York.
Farm Credit East and CoBank were honored to provide a $10,000 donation to support United Veterans of Maine’s “Project 16” campaign to establish a self-sustaining farm and living quarters for homeless veterans in Aroostook County and across Maine. The Dahlgren-Skidgel Farm of Hope, named for Medal of Honor recipients Edward C. Dahlgren and Donald S. Skidgel, held its grand opening on April 15.
Farm Credit East, the largest lender to Northeast agriculture, actively supports local military veterans who are farming. This week, Farm Credit East is partnering with other Farm Credit associations across the country to sponsor an event on Capitol Hill to highlight the contributions of farmer veterans. This event is in coordination with the Farmer Veteran Coalition.
