Farm Credit East Accepting Scholarship Applications to Support Agricultural Educators

February 26, 2019

Farm Credit East recently announced that it is accepting applications from Northeast agricultural educators to support their attendance at institutes offered by the Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education (CASE).

Last fall, CASE began offering an agricultural business curriculum developed with support from Farm Credit East. A CASE educator training in this curriculum will be offered in New York this June. Additionally, Introduction to Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and Agricultural Power and Technology will be hosted by Lowville High School in New York this summer. Other institutes being offered this year can be found by visiting case4learning.org.

CASE, a project of the National Association of Agricultural Educators, has developed high school courses that integrate science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts with hands-on, inquiry-based learning. CASE offers educator training to provide the tools needed to offer this coursework in high school classrooms. Since 2009, CASE has certified 1,539 teachers from 45 states, including 66 teachers from the Northeast states Farm Credit East serves.

To apply for a scholarship, educators must teach in a school district within Farm Credit East’s territory and must currently or plan to teach agricultural or natural resources courses. Scholarships will cover up to 50 percent of the cost of the CASE institute, not to exceed $1,000. To learn more or to apply, click here. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 15, 2019 and all applicants will be notified by April 1.
