As a Tax Specialist, you exhibit both strong customer relationship and technical skills in the areas of farm accounting and farm income taxation. Exceeding branch revenue goals and generating new business are keys for the position's success. The Tax Specialist is dedicated to finding creative solutions to meet customer needs and consistently generates superior results in terms of both quantity and quality of services provided to customers. A thorough understanding of Farm Credit East's products and services is required in order to provide the best solution to each customer's unique needs. 

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in taxation and accounting. Experience with CCH Tax programs is a plus. The successful candidate will possess critical technical, customer relationship, and leadership skills.

Counties Served: Massachusetts: Essex, Middlesex, Suffolk, Worcester County (north of Mass Pike)
New Hampshire: Belknap, Carroll, Hillsboro, Merrimack, Rockingham, Strafford

Area: The branch is located in a suburban area, with urban amenities conveniently located nearby. 

Types of Businesses: The branch's agriculture is diverse, including fruit, aquatic, timber, livestock, dairy, vegetable, greenhouse, nursery and specialty crops. Farm related businesses are also within Bedford's target market.


  • Direct Provision of Financial Services: Provide high value financial services to customers for a profitable fee. Accurately prepare tax returns, state and federal payroll filings, and other returns. Maintain current federal and state tax knowledge and have a thorough understanding of all tax and records software programs. Maintain proper documentation and communication with members and staff in order to respond to internal and external customer needs.
  • Marketing: Increase business by means of promotional activities and superior customer service. Provide value to customers with appropriate and timely products and services.
  • Member Relations/Teamwork: Provide outstanding customer service (both internal and external) and deliver exceptional customer experience and value by setting, communicating and meeting customer expectations. Demonstrate a strong community commitment and professional presence that contributes to the overall positive image of Farm Credit East. Act in a forthright and ethical manner, display a positive attitude and contribute positively to the overall morale of the team and association. Assist other team members and contribute to training.

Required Education

A Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, agricultural economics, or a related field is required. IRS Enrolled Agent designation; CPA designation preferred.

Required Qualifications

Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. The ability to travel throughout Farm Credit East's territory is required. You will be expected to take and pass Farm Credit's Farm Tax Accreditation Program within first year of hire.
