Livestock Risk Protection Policy Updates and June 30 Transfer Deadline

The USDA Risk Management Agency has announced significant updates to the Livestock Risk Protection (LRP) program effective July 1, 2026. These changes are intended to improve flexibility, expand coverage opportunities and create more consistency across livestock insurance products. The deadline for producers to transfer LRP providers to Crop Growers is June 30, 2026.

Farm Credit System Reports 2023 Second Quarter and Six-Month Net Income

The Farm Credit System today reported that combined net income decreased 1.4% to $1.78 billion and 1.7% to $3.51 billion for the three and six months ended June 30, 2023, as compared with net income of $1.81 billion and $3.57 billion for the same periods of the prior year.

Farm Credit East Announces $250,000 in Flood Relief for Northeast Producers

Following devastating flooding in Vermont and other parts of the Northeast, Farm Credit East has announced its Farm Credit East Cares Community Fund will make available up to $250,000 in flood relief to impacted Northeast producers. In addition, CoBank, Farm Credit East’s funding bank, and Farmer Mac are contributing to this effort.
