Farm Credit East recently hosted a webinar with University of Vermont Extension Associate Professor, Mark Cannella, providing insights for the maple industry in 2025. As U.S. maple syrup production continues to grow, there are potential changes for the industry on the horizon.  Following are the key takeaways from this webinar. 

The Farm Credit Northeast AgEnhancement Program, a joint effort of Farm Credit East and CoBank, recently provided $106,000 in grant funding to 15 organizations to assist their efforts to encourage youth leadership development, support young and beginning farmer initiatives, promote diversity, equity and inclusion, and advance northeast agriculture, forestry and commercial fishing.

2023 was a challenging year for wood products markets. In fact, since the patronage program was first adopted, customer-owners of Farm Credit East (and predecessor cooperatives) have received more than $1.4 billion in dividends from ownership of their cooperative. But what exactly is a patronage dividend?
