In conjunction with National FFA Week (February 18-25), Farm Credit East is pleased to announce the awarding of eight scholarships to students involved in The National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Organization to support their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). The scholarship recipients had strong projects and expressed a clear understanding of their projects’ impacts on their future careers in agriculturally related fields. 

Farm Credit East, the Northeast’s largest agricultural lender, recently awarded $65,000 in higher education scholarships to 38 student recipients. Farm Credit East’s scholarship program supports students with diverse career aspirations in agriculture, commercial fishing, forest products and related fields from across the association’s eight-state territory, including three diversity candidate recipients.

Farm Credit East recently announced the opening of nominations for the 2023 Lipinski Rural Initiatives Award, which aims to recognize innovative and transformational efforts to revitalize Northeast rural communities. Nominations are due by January 31, 2023. 

Farm Credit East is pleased the Risk Management Agency (RMA) has approved the expansion of several crop insurance programs for New Jersey growers for the 2023 crop year.

The agriculture, commercial fishing and forest products industries are key economic engines in the Northeast, according to an economic impact report recently released by Farm Credit East, the region’s largest agricultural lender.

Following devastating flooding in Vermont and other parts of the Northeast, Farm Credit East has announced its Farm Credit East Cares Community Fund will make available up to $250,000 in flood relief to impacted Northeast producers. In addition, CoBank, Farm Credit East’s funding bank, and Farmer Mac are contributing to this effort.

Farm Credit East hosted a webinar summarizing the ornamental horticulture industry in 2020, as well as an outlook for 2021 with presenter, Dr. Charlie Hall, Texas A&M University. This free webinar was held Tuesday, March 2.

To help the next generation develop the necessary business and financial skills, Farm Credit East is hosting GenerationNext seminars this fall and winter. Anyone who would like to sharpen their management skills is encouraged to attend. Both in-person and virtual sessions are offered.
