Having the right financial management tools in place is critical for any business to optimize profitably and ensure long-term success. Farm Credit East is a specialized provider of financial services for farm and forest products businesses and recently released two videos on the record-keeping and appraisal services the financial cooperative provides. Ashley LaCourse, accounting specialist in Farm Credit East’s Greenwich, N.Y., branch office, expressed the importance of a strong record-keeping strategy. “Our customers are passionate about their business, and I’m passionate about helping their business grow,” said Ashley.
Farm Credit East accounting professionals are trained in ag-related rules and regulations. They provide customers with monthly, quarterly or annual reports to help them strategize and plan for the future. Record-keeping services are provided both on-farm or from a Farm Credit East branch office.
Farm Credit East also offers specialized appraisal services for agricultural and rural properties and assets. “Residential or commercial appraisers don’t always understand the differences in land types and soil qualities or the specialized buildings specific to agriculture,” explained Rebecca Stone, Farm Credit East accredited rural appraiser. “Farm Credit East appraisers specialize in agriculture, so we have the required knowledge and expertise needed to appraise these types of properties.”
Farm Credit East provides its specialized financial services for all types and sizes of farms, including full- or part-time. It is not necessary to have an existing relationship with Farm Credit East to use these services – they are available to anyone involved in Northeast agriculture, commercial fishing and forest products.
