As a Northeast Crop Insurance Marketing Agent, you will deliver effective insurance services to assure continued organizational growth and profitability in the crop insurance area by providing quality, professional service to meet and/or exceed customer expectations. Strong relationship management and communication skills are essential, as you will be responsible for managing existing customer relationships and developing new customer relationships to grow your portfolio of business. You will also be a resource for Farm Credit East branch staff, providing technical training and direction to gain branch product referrals while contributing to Farm Credit East's overall level of knowledge of crop insurance.

Number of MPCI policies: approx. 125
MPCI annual premiums: approx. $2,000,000

Types of Agriculture: The branch's agriculture is diverse, including aquatic, nursery, livestock, vegetable, greenhouse, field crops, and fruit. Farm related businesses are also within Coopestown's target market.

With minimal supervision, depending upon experience, the Northeast Crop Insurance Marketing Agent is accountable for the following:
  • Crop Insurance and Policy Servicing: Maintain and promote industry leading product knowledge and expertise in crop insurance through one-on-one and group presentations often assisting others with risk management education. Assure all product processing is completed timely, accurately, and within regulatory compliance by assisting and training customers in the completion of required applications, acreage and production reports.
  • Marketing: Increase business to meet sales and marketing goals by working with branch staff to build a quality referral system through the delivery of high quality service and trusting customer relationships.  Requires continuing contact with members of Crop Growers and branches.  Provide value to customers with appropriate and timely products and services.
  • Special Projects: Manage or participate in other projects as assigned. This may include assisting in training, mentoring, assisting branches in the credit area, new product development, etc.
  • Member Relations/Teamwork: Provide outstanding customer service (both internal and external) and deliver exceptional customer experience and value by setting, communicating and meeting customer expectations. Demonstrate a strong community commitment and professional presence that contributes to the overall positive image of the ACA. Act in a forthright and ethical manner, display a positive attitude and contribute positively to the overall morale of the team and association. Assist other team members and contribute to training.

Required Qualifications

Position requires a B.A./B.S. in agriculture, agri-business, business administration, or equivalent. Experience as a crop insurance agent is desired, or equivalent experience in a related field. A general knowledge of agriculture is preferred. Property and casualty license desired, but not required; if not already licensed, the successful candidate must obtain their license within the first year of hire. Strong marketing and interpersonal skills are required, as are verbal and written communications skills.  Must be team oriented. The position requires the ability to travel as needed.
