As a Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for working as a member of a cross-functional team focused on carrying out a wide range of responsibilities associated with Farm Credit East's Marketing and Communications program as well as assisting with Public Affairs and Knowledge Exchange activities. The duties of the individual will further develop and expand as the Marketing and Communications program undertakes new initiatives. The position is accountable for meeting the needs of both internal and external customers with quality services, growing the business of Farm Credit East, and promoting a positive corporate image at all times. As part of this position, the incumbent will administer social media initiatives to create greater awareness of Farm Credit East products and services.

This position will be based in Enfield, CT with Farm Credit East's Administration team.

Responsibilities/Duties

Content Development
  • Utilizing Farm Credit East data and information from other sources, prepare information/articles/analysis for press releases, FarmCreditEast.com, Financial Partner magazine and other purposes. This may include interviews with internal and external customers. Copyedit materials, as needed.
  • Work with branch offices to develop local press releases, as needed.
  • Assist in editing and coordination of various Knowledge Exchange industry reports and Marketing and Communication materials, as necessary.
  • Develop consistent PowerPoint presentations for internal and external meetings to ensure presentations are free of typos and grammatical errors and that all presentations appropriately represent the association.
  • In working with our external ad agencies, coordinate branch office local ad and sponsorship requests.
  • Work closely with various internal teams to develop effective internal communications. At times, this will include newsletter development and layout, in addition to various written materials.
  • Update the Farm Credit University curriculum, as needed.
Webmaster (FarmCreditEast.com & Intranet)
  • Maintain FarmCreditEast.com. Update website materials on a regular basis (serve as webmaster). This responsibility will also include coordination of web inquiries.
  • Assist in staffing the text chat function on FarmCreditEast.com
  • Today's Harvest blog content management. This will include interviewing topic experts, drafting blog posts and copyediting, as well as determining appropriate graphic representations.
  • Maintain intranet sites, SharePoint sites and informational portals to ensure easy access to information and data. Oversee the intranet spotlight and other communications by way of this internal communication tool.
Social Media
  • Coordinate Farm Credit East's social media networks as determined appropriate. This will include targeted social copy and graphics. Manage web-based and social media strategies to create greater awareness of Farm Credit East products and services by both traditional and non-traditional producers.
  • Monitor and assist in administration and development of content for branch office social media efforts.
  • Serve as back up for online webinars for both staff and customer purposes. Conduct research necessary for webinar presentations. 
Risk Management
  • Monitor Farm Credit East media coverage, both digital and print, including press releases.
  • Identify reputational risk issues, especially as it relates to digital communications, and develop appropriate strategies to address reputational risk concerns.
  • Maintain ad tracking for our country home lending program for auditing purposes.
All Other Duties
  • Attend and/or assist with coordination of Farm Credit East participation at internal and external events, as well as at industry events across the LSA to promote the image and commitment of the association to the industries we serve. This includes Farm Credit East's involvement in selected tradeshows and other events, including customer appreciation events, as necessary.
  • Serve in a backup capacity for the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Knowledge Exchange and Communications Specialist.
  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

Required Education

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
