Farm Credit East Cares

Farm Credit East Cares was initiated by Farm Credit East employees in 2011 to give back to the farmers and rural communities we serve. Each year, funds are raised through the contributions of Farm Credit East employees across the organization’s 20 branch offices and distributed to farm families and organizations impacted by disasters; to various Northeast charitable organizations; and to local, regional or state not-for-profit charitable organizations focused on youth involvement in agriculture or local agricultural promotion.

Since the program's inception, it has contributed more than $800,000 to Northeast charitable organizations and farm families.

  • Patronage Dividends

    As owners of their financial cooperative, Farm Credit East customers have the opportunity to share in the financial success of the cooperative through patronage dividends.

    In 2020, Farm Credit East distributed a record $70 million in cash patronage dividends to more than 11,250 farm, fishing and forestry business owners and operators across Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. This distribution was in addition to a one-time $25 million special patronage dividend paid to customer-owners in October 2019 based on the first six month of 2019 earnings.

    In July 2020, Farm Credit East’s Board of Directors approved the distribution of a $30 million advance on 2020 patronage dividends to provide members with additional liquidity and cash flow.
