The Farm Credit Northeast AgEnhancement Program, a joint effort of Farm Credit East and CoBank, recently provided $65,000 in grant funding to 17 organizations to assist their efforts to support young and beginning farmer initiatives, encourage youth leadership development, promote diversity equity and inclusion, and advance northeast agriculture, forestry and commercial fishing. Submissions for the next round of grant funding are due by April 1.

Farm Credit East posted strong financial results for the nine month period ended September 30, 2021. Net income was $150.7 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2021, a decrease of $1.9 million as compared with the same period in 2020 View the results.

Farm Credit East and Yankee Farm Credit are pleased to announce their regulator, the Farm Credit Administration, has preliminarily approved the proposed merger of the two associations. The merger vote will now go to customer-stockholders for consideration.

The deadline to insure Northeast perennial crops for the 2022 crop year is November 20, 2021. Insurable perennial crops include apples, peaches, grapes, cranberries, blueberries, pears and cherries. Forage losses from natural hazards, especially drought, can be a significant risk for forage and livestock producers.
