Important Update on New York Farm Employer Overtime Tax Credit Refunds

After filing their 2025 tax returns, Farm Credit East learned that many farm taxpayers received an adjustment notice from New York State reducing the amount of their requested refund. The adjustments stemmed from a disallowance of the Farm Employer Overtime Tax Credit claimed on form CT- or IT-661.

USDA Risk Management Agency Announces Emergency Claim Procedures for New York Apple Growers Following Spring Freeze

Following the devastating spring freeze that damaged apple orchards across key production regions, USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) has announced emergency procedures to accelerate crop insurance claim processing and indemnity payments for impacted New York apple growers.

Farm Credit East Awards $206,000 in Higher Education Scholarships

Farm Credit East, the Northeast’s largest agricultural lender, recently awarded $206,000 in higher education scholarships to 38 student recipients. Farm Credit East’s scholarship program supports students with diverse career aspirations in agriculture, commercial fishing, forest products and related fields from across the association’s eight-state territory.

Livestock Risk Protection Policy Updates and June 30 Transfer Deadline

The USDA Risk Management Agency has announced significant updates to the Livestock Risk Protection (LRP) program effective July 1, 2026. These changes are intended to improve flexibility, expand coverage opportunities and create more consistency across livestock insurance products. The deadline for producers to transfer LRP providers to Crop Growers is June 30, 2026.
