The Farm Credit Northeast AgEnhancement Program, a joint effort of Farm Credit East and CoBank, recently provided over $60,000 in grant funding to 17 organizations to assist their efforts to support young and beginning farmer initiatives, encourage youth leadership development, promote diversity equity and inclusion and advance northeast agriculture, forestry and commercial fishing.

After initial disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, customer demand for lawn and garden products surged, and sales were generally up overall for the green industry. The deadline to insure spring crops in the northeast for the 2022 crop year is March 15, 2022. Insurable spring crops include field and vegetable crops such as corn, soybeans, barley, oats, fresh market sweet corn, cabbage, processing beans, processing sweet corn, dry beans, green peas, fresh market beans, tomatoes, tobacco and potatoes.
