Farm Credit East Celebrates National FFA Week with Scholarships to Local FFA Students

In honor of National FFA Week taking place February 15-22, Farm Credit East has announced its awarding of nine scholarships to students involved in The National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Organization to support their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). The scholarship recipients had strong projects and expressed a clear understanding of their projects’ impacts on their future careers in agriculturally related fields.

Reminder: Spring Crop Sales Closing Deadline is March 15

The deadline to insure spring crops in the northeast for the 2025 crop year is March 15, 2025. Insurable spring crops include field and vegetable crops such as corn, soybeans, barley, oats, fresh market sweet corn, cabbage, processing beans, processing sweet corn, dry beans, green peas, fresh market beans, tomatoes, tobacco and potatoes. Coverage availability varies by county.

Farm Credit Awards Efforts to Develop and Promote Northeast Agriculture

The Farm Credit Northeast AgEnhancement Program, a joint effort of Farm Credit East and CoBank, recently provided $106,000 in grant funding to 15 organizations to assist their efforts to encourage youth leadership development, support young and beginning farmer initiatives, promote diversity, equity and inclusion, and advance northeast agriculture, forestry and commercial fishing.

Farm Worker Housing Loan Funds Available in New York

Farm Credit East is currently accepting applications for farm worker housing construction and improvement loans from the New York State Farm Worker Housing (FWH) Loan Program. A limited pool of loan funds is now available to fund new projects. These loans are available to New York agricultural producers, including fruit, vegetable, greenhouse and nursery, equine, and dairy operations.
